Founded in 1876, the Museum of Fine Arts of Agen, located in the historical heart of the city, is lodged in four magnificent mansion houses built from the XV th to the XVIII th century which open out on to fine inner courtyards. It is one of the richest museums in the south-west of France and it exhibits along a pleasant circuit recalling the home of a wealthy connoisseur a collection of paintings and sculptures of European furniture and faience. The museum collections show a wide panorama of the history of Art, from Prehistory to the XXI th century.
The Jacobins church, which is a major architectural testimony to the religious and political history of the city and the only remnant of the Dominican convent erected in 1249, also hosts the museum's temporary exhibitions since 1990.LABELS/CERTIFICATIONS
