    • The Pruneau Farm and Museum in Lafitte sur Lot

Unmissable place in Lot et Garonne

On the banks of the Lot between Tonneins and Villeneuve-sur-Lot The farm and Pruneau Museum. The arrival is by crossing the plum orchard which changes completely depending on the season. Snow white in spring, then bright green and full of purple plums in summer.

The visit is done in 3 stages:

      • The first stage takes place in a 300m2 museum. Equipped with an audio guide (in French, English or Dutch) we will tell you the history of the prune and its cultivation from the 12th century to today. As for the children, they are equipped to go on an adventure and become a 19th century plum grower for the duration of a mission.
      • Then follows a video to see today's work on the 4 seasons because at the Pruneau Museum we don't work for plums. Vanessa and Fabrice, above all producers, will explain to you all the steps so that this pretty juicy and purple plum becomes a soft prune.
      • In order to answer questions and especially because you will have been salivating since the beginning, the visit ends with a tasting. Everything is good, whether it's plain prune or chocolate and of course alcohol. Prune comes in all forms. It's like in pork, everything is good in the prune, nothing is thrown away.

Prune can be both savory and sweet. We even make cosmetics with it. The shop is full of prune products that everyone wants, as well as products from neighboring friends.

New in 2024: To eat and enjoy a rural setting on the banks of the Lot, a tavern opens its doors. Vanessa will delight you with her burgers, quiches, salads...all homemade and only with local and seasonal products.

The tavern will be open every lunchtime in July and August as well as Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. Musical entertainment planned.

To reach this family farm, it is possible to come by car, by bike (Accueil Vélo) or by boat (via the Lot). For those who want to stay longer, the farm has a campervan area.

Possibility on site to take the gourmet pass to visit in addition to the Pruneau Museum, the Maison de la Noisette and the Foie Gras Museum.

This maze is open in July-August and what an adventure!!! Sown every year for 25 years, several generations have already worn out their soles.

There is something for all ages, from 3 years old.

The corn measures around 2 meters, so it is thick and you quickly lose your bearings. Equipped with a

plan (or not) you will have to find the puzzles to solve on the theme of Charlie and the chocolate factory this year. You will accompany Charlie to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory to discover the oompas-loompas, and all their friends. As it is the Pruneau Museum, a test on the theme awaits you there, a clue you need some breathing… As you advance along the path and turn and return, the thread is lost. Traps at every turn and it's impossible not to fall into them. At the exit, a surprise awaits the children even if not all the puzzles are solved. On Monday evening it is possible to do the torchlight labyrinth (last departure 10 p.m.), it is interesting to eat on site before, in order to gain strength on the pretty terrace of the new guinguette on the banks of the Lot, everything is homemade with products local and seasonal. (burger, quiche, salad, at the farm they even have vegetarians

The pruno' quiz from April to October.

This activity completes the visit to the museum. The journey through the orchard will depend entirely on the results obtained by the children in the museum. The goal is to find the quiz panels in the rows of plum trees. You must not get lost while counting, otherwise you will have to start all over again. The questions are completely crazy, like the famous Burger Quiz show! Here we are talking about the Pruno quiz! It’s our Gascon expression! In the shade of the orchard it is possible to be accompanied by birds, bees, and sometimes hares. Whatever happens between the Museum, the labyrinth and the Quiz, the fruit is highlighted in an instructive and amusing way. Fine gourmets and prune lovers will find their happiness, those who are more reluctant will learn to love it.

It takes a good hour for each activity. It is advisable to spend a whole day at the Pruneau farm and museum. The setting on the banks of the Lot is very friendly and relaxing. There are even armchairs for relaxing in the sun.

New in 2024 : To eat and enjoy a bucolic setting on the banks of the Lot a

tavern opens its doors. Vanessa delights you with her burgers, quiches, salads...desserts with all homemade products and only with farm or local and seasonal products.

The tavern will be open every lunchtime from July to August as well as Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. Musical entertainment planned

The welcome is so warm that it feels like home! Real moments of conviviality, discovery and fun await you!!

Really informative visit and well curated space. Audio guide gave lots of growing history and heritage context to this proud growing provenance. Doesn't take ages to see it all, but definitely a short and sweet excursion. We would recommend to people in the area. Some great products available to buy in the shop too.

Interesting museum on working plum/prune farm. Multilingual audio guide included in entrance fee (of 5€ for an adult but check website), provides the historical details. A film brings in the present day farm and processes. Excellent tasting with parking for motorhome overnight.

Really lovely selfguided tour with audio guide headsets and a tasting at the end. Learnt that "Agen Prunes" are called that because that was where they were shipped from. Feel annoyed for Villeneuve area where they are actually grown! Lots of other interesting insights to be had as well as 'silly photo' opportunities using the cardboard cut out face tableau. The Prunes in Eau De Vie from the shop are AMAZING. Weighed a tonne but still brought sone home on flight 😁
