Unusual visits in Lot ...

This department, crossed by a river, the Garonne , and a river, the Lot , which have carved out its two main valleys: the Lot valley and the Gascony valley , is a fertile and culturally rich land. There are great and small treasures there: magnificent natural sites , an atypical heritage , traditions and a wine culture … A mixture that offers us original visits to discover the many facets of this beautiful countryside.

An architectural curiosity

We take you to Barbaste . A fortified mill is already unusual. But this one forms a particularly impressive whole. Beyond its architectural interest , it is a part of the history of our famous Henri IV which is revealed to you. At the time when he was still only the young Henri de Navarre and when he signed “ Henri, meunier de Barbaste ”… For more practical information, here is the sheet of the Moulin des Tours and its Romanesque bridge .

A very "select" entry into the equestrian world

To make your entry into the equestrian world a success, we suggest you go and bet a few cents on your favorite, during a race at the Sangruères racecourse . And to see on the other side of the barrier, a visit to the Villeneuve-sur-Lot stud farm is a must. You will know everything about horses, horse trades and animal traction.

A ride in Gabarre

It's hard to discover Lot-et-Garonne without taking a little trip on the water. For a change, we embark on a barge, a traditional boat in Nérac , with the Prince Henry Cruises for a guided excursion or a meal on the water . To find out more, read our report . Or in Fumel , the Gabarres fuméloises take you quietly on the Lot.

Meet the industrial age

For this last step, we show you an extraordinary machine. Watt's machine is a strange machine… A huge wind tunnel invented by James Watt, a Scottish engineer. The Fumel plant is fortunate to have one of the two machines still in working order. Currently, the town hall can no longer show it, but do not hesitate to consult the reference page on the town hall website to find out more .

We hope to have given you lots of ideas for surveying this department and to have brought you another look at this beautiful country territory .
