2. Bonaguil Castle

Bonaguil Castle is located between the Dordogne and Lot rivers, in the commune of Saint-Front-sur-Lémance, about 30 minutes from Villeneuve-sur-Lot. A guided tour offers a deeper understanding of local history. The castle was built on a rocky promontory overlooking the surrounding countryside. Its distinctive feature is its seven drawbridges, which once protected this ancient defensive structure.

3. The medieval village of Cancon

In the Dropt region, between Castillonnès and Villeneuve-sur-Lot, the small village of Cancon is a site of importance. Indeed, it is considered the "hazelnut capital." 7. The Castle of the Duchy of Lauzun

In the north of Lot-et-Garonne, the village of Lauzun is an ancient Gallo-Roman oppidum. It has been continuously inhabited since that time. Thus, it was transformed into a fortress during the Middle Ages. Then, it was remodeled during the Renaissance to take the form of the present-day Château de Lauzun.

It was thanks to this fortress that the Dufort-Duras family gained a prominent position at the French court. The fortified castle has evolved considerably over the centuries and is now a spacious residence, housing part of the Mobilier National collection.
