Château de Lauzun History and Renaissance in Lauzun

The Château de Lauzun, a place of history, residence of the first Duke of Lauzun, Antonin Nompar de Caumont (1632-1723), listed monument in 1963. The architecture of the Château de Lauzun is a testimony of the Renaissance period.

Visible from the outside all year round.

The interior of the castle is not open to visitors.

Favorites :

• The two monumental Italian Renaissance-style marble fireplaces attributed to the architect Pierre Souffron (architect of Henri de Navarre, future Henri IV), including the one in the King's bedroom offered by Catherine de Medici.

• The Gallo-Roman altar of the goddess Tutela.
• As for the vast state room, it has also retained its 16th-century decor, notably its floor paved with diamond-shaped terracotta tiles.
