Located on the banks of the Garonne Lateral Canal, it's an attractive and well-situated holiday destination for exploring the area. History and Heritage of Damazan

Damazan, like many bastides, bears witness to a rich past. Founded in 1259, it testifies to the ingenuity of medieval urban planning. A bastide ? It's a model of a new town, characterized by a regular grid plan, central squares, and straight streets, thus fostering trade and community life. Immerse yourself in this heritage by strolling through the town center with its ramparts and turrets, its gates, and charming facades in the purest medieval style!

A little further than the village

Damazan also boasts an enviable proximity to the famous Canal de Garonne. It's the Canal du Midi 's little cousin! Built in the 19^th century to connect Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) to Castets (Gironde), it's an extension of the grand Canal du Midi, reaching the Atlantic Ocean and together forming the Canal des Deux Mers (Canal of the Two Seas). It's 193 km long and navigable !

Once vital for transporting goods, it now offers a peaceful setting for walks or bike rides along its shaded banks. A perfect family experience for nature lovers and history buffs.

The Damazan leisure park, located on the shores of Lake Moulineau, is a must-see for families looking for fun or sports. It offers a wide range of water activities, including a water park in the summer, stand-up paddleboard rentals, and a cable water ski lift. Swimming is possible during the summer season: the sandy beach has a lifeguard station. Entry and parking are free.
