Réserve Naturelle Étang De La Mazière Nature Reserves in Villeton

Near Tonneins, in the town of Villeton, the Etang de la Mazière Nature Reserve is located on the banks of the Garonne, in a floodplain formed by an old backwater. The reserve is made up of different zones, characteristic of wetlands: streams, pond, reed bed, gravel pit, marshy meadows… This ecosystem is a paradise for the birds which feed and nest there. The European pond turtle is a protected species that can also be found in the reserve. It is a very interesting bird watching site.
