Fous de Garonne, the interpretation center for the river and its valley
Did you know that almost every year, Couthures-sur-Garonne transforms into Couthures-sous-Garonne ? But don't panic! Here, in case of flooding, people hang their furniture from the ceiling, moor their boats to balconies, and let the fish swim in their living rooms. Nothing unusual in the most charming village in our region, whose unmissable visit will surely turn you into true "Garonne Enthusiasts."
When the Garonne puts on a show – video mapping
No, carp aren't mute! And if you doubt it, you haven't yet experienced the extraordinary video mapping show by Fous de Garonne. This digital magic trick, somewhere between dream and reality, will immerse you in the life of Couthur and its surprising history. Following the rhythm of the river's floods, experience something funny, surreal, and infinitely poetic.
Virtual reality: Flood alert!
Put on your virtual reality headset and embark with the Couthures rescuers to experience, in total immersion, the great flood of December 2019. Aboard a rescue boat, you will be able to follow, as close as possible to the action, the interventions of these everyday heroes, always ready when the Garonne is angry.
Nature Cabin: the natural ecosystem of the Garonne
The navigator Yves Parlier is the patron of this room, entirely clad in wood, where you can discover the river's fauna in 3D projection. A show that highlights insects, mammals and fish of the Garonne, inhabitants of an ecosystem of great richness and great fragility.
Aquarium & touch tank
And there you have it, the Garonne River is up to its old tricks again, and the kitchen is underwater. Fish swim among unusual reefs made of a table, a refrigerator, and a television. A surprising aquarium, visible from Rue de La Cave, just steps from the riverbank.
