Line of sight on the Barbaste Bridge

Barbaste is a village steeped in history. "Le Moulin des Tours" (The Mill of the Towers) is also known as "Moulin Henri IV" ( Henri IV Mill) due to its proximity to Nérac, the birthplace of this famous King of France and Navarre. It is even said that Henri IV, in his youth, signed his work "Henri, miller of Barbaste." The Barbaste Bridge is a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture, with its ten arches! At the end of the bridge, you can visit the fortified mill, with its four square towers. A stroll also invites you to discover the banks of the Gélise River.

Gaining a high vantage point on the rocky spire of Bonaguil

Bonaguil means "the good needle," as it sits atop a rocky spur known as a "rocky needle." This hilltop village is best known for its magnificent 15th-century castle . What surprises visitors is that its architecture is typically medieval, a style not typically associated with the Renaissance period. It was only in the 18th century that it was finally remodeled to offer greater comfort. The result is a striking blend of styles, providing fascinating architectural photographs!
